A Summer to Remember

Gnostic Teacher Mike

One afternoon, just as I was getting up from bed after an afternoon astral projection practice, I suddenly had a flash of a dream I'd had the previous night but hadn't remembered until then.

I didn't remember the whole dream—just a small event from it. The event was reasonably normal as far as daily life is concerned, but I knew that it had symbolic significance. And after a bit of reflection, I knew what it meant...

It was midway through summer at the time. I attended university away from home, but I had been staying back home with my parents over the summer break. We had a pet cat named Sasha. The cat and I got along really well. We had practically grown up together, as I was only about two years older than her. I was in my second year at university so going away to school and coming back home during the breaks and seeing Sasha, along with my parents, friends and relatives of course, had become somewhat routine. But this dream I had, through its symbology, was telling me that my time with Sasha that summer was going to be the last time. In the years leading up to that summer her health had been deteriorating, but she still had a nice quality of life so this wasn't something that caused me great concern until the dream.

For the rest of the summer I naturally tried to spend a lot of time with her, just in case it was the last time.

I went back to school and the next few months went by very quickly and all along she was still there with my parents. Then just a couple of weeks before I came back at Christmas, when I thought I'd see her again, my mom called me when I was at dinner with some friends. She told me Sasha had become extremely uncoordinated and had been put down.

The news was surprising since I'd begun to believe everything was going to be just like normal, but it wasn't completely traumatizing since I had been prepared for the event through that dream and was able to enjoy my time with Sasha to the fullest.
