Finding my Umbrella

By Lilia
Nicosia, Cyprus
Since I live on a Mediterranean island with a predictable climate, at the end of the winter I usually put away all my winter clothing along with my umbrella. However, unexpectedly, one day it rained heavily in the middle of the summer!
That day I was late for class at university and I desperately needed to find my umbrella. I searched all over the place and I messed everything up… but, my umbrella was gone! So, I decided to try a retrospection to see if the practice could help me find the answer to my question: “where is my umbrella?”
Despite my being late, I decided to sacrifice five more minutes and seriously try the practice. I sat down, relaxed a little bit and started going back in time in my mind in order to see where I put my umbrella.
During my retrospection, I couldn’t remember all the little details and events that had occurred since the time I put away my winter clothing, but, while I was going back an image filled my mind of my wardrobe open and my umbrella hidden down in a corner, near some boxes. Then, I opened my eyes and somehow I knew that the image was not a creation of my mind; rather, it came “out of the blue”. I went to my wardrobe and there it was! My umbrella was found in that corner, near some boxes!
